BEHIND THE LENS

Photography captures life; it expresses active creation.  It can be a manipulated illusion or a presentation of life as it is. I like to capture photos that express both elements of this binary: photos that reflect the often-overlooked beauty in life (ordinary objects or people that collaborate to create the passion and purpose in my life). These are moments of art because, oftentimes, they expose the seconds of a subject in contrast to what it might typically exude to the world. 

 

The photographs in my work inspire and create me. Each photograph interlocks through the underlying motif that art is everywhere and can be taken from the interconnected elements of a person’s life.

 

Thank you for visiting Amberlee Joy Photography!  I specialize in wedding and portrait photography and am based in the Harrisonburg, VA area.  My husband, Zach, and I married almost two years ago, and we adore the outdoors, rock climbing and camping. After graduating James Madison University with my Master of Arts in Teaching, I became both a professional photographer and English teacher, both careers that have taught me the importance of beauty and creativity.
